Barta group to play ‘salon concert’

The Steve Barta Trio will performs three acoustic “salon concerts” Thursday through Saturday, July 16-18 at the Cucuru Gallery Café, 2332 W. Colorado Ave.
Limited to 40 people a night, each show will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are being sold in advance at $15 a person, plus $10 minimum for food or drinks.
A jazz pianist and composer, Barta is known nationally for his “Blue River” album in which he performed with Herbie Mann. His trio also consists of Kenny Walker on bass and Dennis Bueno on drums.

Forty years ago, on July 20, 1969, American astronauts walked on the moon for the first time. Now, the Space Foundation is looking for feedback from people who remember that day.
A press release from the Westside-based non-profit agency asks people to “share your memories of the moment when man first set foot on the Moon: Where were you? What were you doing? How did it make you feel? What impact has it had on your life? And, if you are too young to remember that historic event, share what your parents or grandparents have told you about their experiences.”
Responses may be used on the Space Foundation website, in press releases or media interviews, or its monthly Space Watch newsletter, the release states.
The website address is SpaceFoundation.org. For more information, contact public outreach director Janet Stevens at 576-8000 or e-mail jstevens@spacefoundation.org.
