Church seeks volunteer(s) for pantry
The food pantry at the Living Faith Church of the Nazarene, 2120 King St., will close in July in hopes of finding one or more new volunteers to run it.
Pastor Ted Dittmer said the three people who had been overseeing the operation decided they no longer wanted to do it (although they are staying with the church).
The timing is not so bad, because Care and Share - from which the church obtains food for its pantry - closes for three weeks this time of year, he said.
Over the past 14 months, Living Faith's pantry has given out about 100,000 pounds of food to the needy, Dittmer said.
The volunteer(s) being sought would need to be “trustworthy” and willing to put in about 15 hours a week, which would include picking up food from Care and Share every week, he said.
