Manitou shop opens 2nd store in OCC

       Janis Hawley, who has run the Taos Maos retail shop in Manitou Springs for about 12 years, has opened a second store in Old Colorado City, at 2513 ˝ W. Colorado Ave.
       The added space lets her display more of her items. “It was getting a little too crowded in the Manitou store,” she said.
       Hawley also likes it that Old Colorado City is “a pleasant, attractive area” with ties to history like Manitou has.
       Named Taos Maos II, the business is open daily, specializing in jewelry, chimes, gongs, windspinners, glass suncatchers and cards.

       New restaurant in plaza
       A restaurant/teahouse serving Ethiopian and Mediterranean cuisine has opened for lunch and dinner in the Old Town Plaza, 2501 W. Colorado Ave. in Old Colorado City.
       The family-owned eatery is named Uchenna, which mean's “God's will” in the language of the Ethiopian Igbou tribe, according to business owner Maya Hetman.
       The food is “all homemade, all from scratch,” she said.

       Dance studio at Gold Hill
       The Dance Place will open its doors July 12 in the Gold Hill Mesa community center, 142 S. Raven Mine Dr.
       Located inside Pilates Plus, the new dance studio will offer dance classes for children, teens and adults, with styles including ballet, tap, jazz, musical theater and hip- hop.
       The studio founder and director is Becca Bishop, who has 20 years of dance teaching and training.
