Centennial King Soopers opens doors
Close to 100 people took in the grand opening of the new Centennial King Soopers Wednesday morning, June 30. |
They were treated to free cake and cider and introduced to store management by King Soopers Regional Human Resources Director Byron Melton.
The store also seemed to be a hit with shoppers in general, as many hundreds more browsed through the 66,000-square-foot facility.
The store manager is Shannon Jones, a Westside resident who had been at an east Colorado Springs store previously. The 24/7 store will have a total of 105 employees, including several who were newly hired, according to Melton.
“This is going to be a great store,” he said. “All the managers and associates did a good job getting it ready for the opening.”
Located at Cenntennial Boulevard and Fillmore Street, the Centennial King Soopers anchors the new Grandview Market Place shopping center. The store includes a bank, one-hour photo, drive-up pharmacy, coffee shop and gas station.
No other shops in the center are open yet. Landscaping also remains to be accomplished.
