55-piece military band at Bancroft

       A 55-piece military concert band will perform in Bancroft Park Saturday, July 7.
       The free show by the Air National Guard Band of the Gulf Coast - augmented by elements of ANG bands from the Midwest, Georgia and Massachusetts - is scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m.
       The unit is composed of Air National Guard members, some of whom have been deployed overseas. The Bancroft concert will be part of a 12-day tour by the Gulf Coast band, according to TSgt Shonda Winkler, the event spokesperson.
       ANG bands perform multiple concerts each month for military ceremonies, music festivals, state fairs, military balls and community events, a press release states.
       The guest conductor at will be Carl “Chevy” Chevallard, who has more than 40 years experience as a performer, conductor, teacher and military commander.
       The music will include traditional, Motown, classical and patriotic music, Winkler said.
       The performance was arranged in conjunction with the Old Colorado City Historical Society.
