Ranch to celebrate old-fashioned 4th

       The Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site will hold its annual Family 4th Thursday, July 4 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Above, during the 2012 event, ranch manager Andy Morris leads two draft horses past a Civil War encampment. This year’s 4th will include a Revolutionary War encampment, children’s games and live patriotic music by the Fountain Creek Brass Band from noon to 1 p.m. Also scheduled are speeches by historical figures – 11 a.m., Katharine Lee Bates; 11:30 and 3:30, (daughter of) Patrick Henry; 1 p.m., Abraham Lincoln, George Washington and William Palmer. Admission is $8 for adults, with discounts for seniors, teens, younger children and active military. The ranch is off Gateway Road west of 30th Street.
