‘Paint the Town Blue’ starts June 25

The annual Paint the Town Blue music series will kick off Thursday, June 25 in Bancroft Park.
Organized by the non-profit Pikes Peak Blues Community (PPBC), the eight-gig series featuring local bands will continue on succeeding Thursdays through Aug. 13.
The times will be 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The shows are free, although donations and volunteers are welcome - especially this year because of a city funding cutback.
A change in policy this year, according to PPBC President Laura Hibbitts, is not to quickly relocate to local bars in bad weather. “It will go on, rain or shine,” she said. “If it's life-threatening, we may go to another venue, but we will try to stick it out.”
A key reason for the new policy is that parents don't want to bring their children into the bars. “We lose half our people that way,” Hibbitts said.
The list of dates/ bands follows:
       June 25 - Rock-N- Rooster.
       July 2 - Loose Connections.
July 9 - High Risk Road.
       July 16 - Dangerous Mood.
July 23 - Kim Ciara and the Sundowners.
       July 30 - B.J. Estares and Route 61.
       August 6 - That Band.
August 13 - Grass it Up.
