Silver Key needs volunteer drivers
Silver Key Senior Services is putting out a call for volunteers. |
“We need lots of all kinds of volunteers,” said Arlinda Thomas, special events and development coordinator for the private, non- profit elderly-care agency. “Our shortage is greatest for drivers.”
Unlike Silver Key staff drivers, volunteer drivers don't need special licenses. In most cases, such as Meals on Wheels, “they can use their own cars,” Thomas said.
Volunteers are also sought who are just willing to spend time with elderly persons.
“We're a volunteer-intensive organization,” she said. “We need volunteers of all kinds.”
In other Silver Key news, Thomas announced that the Silver Key Golf tournament will be moved to the Country Club of Colorado this year. The event, one of the agency's major annual fund-raisers, will be Aug. 1.
Silver Key, started in 1971, is located in the Midland area of the Westside, at 2250 Bott Ave.
