Children’s author set to read aloud at Garden Fair June 10
In a late addition to the schedule for the Garden Fair Saturday, June 10 in Bancroft Park, children's book author Vickie Krudwig of Denver will read her book,
“Cucumber Soup,” on the front porch of the Garvin Cabin at 1 p.m.
The second annual fair, featuring gardening information and crafter booths, will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The free event is timed to coincide with the opening of the Westside Farmers' Market, which is beginning its 19th year next to the park on 24th Street between Colorado and Pikes Peak avenues.
Featured at the Garden Fair will be CSU Extension Master Gardeners giving planting demonstrations and answering questions.
Other fair participants will be the Pikes Peak Area Coalition of Museums and the Hayman Fire Recovery non-profit group with information about noxious weeds. There will also be more than 30 crafter booths selling a range of items, many gardening related.
The Old Colorado City Historical Society (OCCHS), the volunteer group organizing the event, will also have a bake sale on the north side of the History Center, at Pikes Peak Avenue and 24th Street, from 8 a.m to noon.
