Grading near park prelim to project
If you see grading vehicles in the valley southwest of 21st Street and Lower Gold Camp Road this month, they're not digging up Bear Creek Regional Park; they're
leveling parts of private land right next to it.
The eventual project there will be the Bergamo Estates, consisting of seven single-family residential lots ranging in size from .45 to 1.83 acres. The total acreage is 9.78 acres.
The project will also include a donation of land for a future county trail to the Bear Creek Nature Center, according to Luanne Rubey of Terra Nova Engineering, which is planning the project for Michael and Sharon Bonicelli.
A previous development plan for the site, with six lots, was approved by Planning Commission last year. The current application to City Planning is for a “major amendment” to that plan.
According to Rubey, the main reason for the amendment, in addition to adding a lot, is to reconfigure the way the subdivision's access will come up from the valley to Lower Gold Camp Road. “It will be better, with less fill at the bottom,” she said.
Public comments on the proposal are being taken by city planner James Mayerl at 385-5360.
