Brass, blues, jazz – variety of live music scheduled at Bancroft Park through August

Continuing a long tradition, Floyd Frame is bringing his volunteer music groups to Bancroft Park in June and August for what's known as the “Soft Summer Nights Series.”
With coordination by Colorado Springs Parks, Frame's Concert Band and Jazz Ensemble played June 4 and 5 and is scheduled to play the 11th, 12th, 18th, 19th and 25th. His Midland Brass Band will perform every Tuesday in August.
Free and open to the public, all shows will be from 7 to 8 p.m.
City Parks will also help coordinate other free concerts to Bancroft this summer, as part of its annual citywide summer entertainment efforts. For the third straight year, the city and the Pikes Peak Blues Community will offer “Paint the Town Blue” from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursdays in June, July and August, starting June 26 with John-Alex Mason.
The back-up location, should rain fall, will be Thunder & Buttons, 2415 W. Colorado Ave.
Others in Paint the Town Blue will be July 3, Brickyard; July 10, COW; July 17, Mystic Biscuit; July 24, Jim Adams Band; July 31, Channel Cats; Aug. 7, Inman Brothers; and Aug. 14, Peter Burg.
“Old Fashion Fourth of July in Bancroft Park” will highlight the Pikes Peak Musicians Association Band July 3 at 7 p.m.
The “Jazz in the Parks Series” will feature Mistura Bela Aug. 6. The show will be from 6 to 8 p.m. If there's a rainout, it will be made up the next evening.
A private musical effort, continuing Tuesdays from 7 to 9 p.m. at Bancroft Park through June 24, are the free Old Tyme Barn Dances, with instrumentation by the Beedles and calling by Merell Folsom.
