Dump & Donate Day in Coronado lot June 9

The eighth annual Dump & Donate Day will set up in the Coronado High School parking lot Saturday, June 9.
The event offers a chance for people to drop off trash (but not garbage) and recyclables and to donate items to charity.
Harris Group Realty is the sponsor, with help this year from the Organization of Westside Neighbors (OWN). OWN had been seeking to start a clean-up project but decided to join forces with Harris.
According to a Harris press release, acceptable recycled items are mattresses, paint, tires, flourescent bulbs, large or small appliances, batteries and electronics. Fees will only be charged for mattresses ($5) and electronics ($1 per inch for televisions and $10 for computer monitors).
No items that require Freon or that run on motor oil will be accepted.
A chipper will be available for branches up to 9 inches in diameter.
Catholic Charities will also have a truck in the parking lot, accepting “new or gently used items for donations,” the release adds.
