The Garden of the Gods 10-Mile/10K races will be run entirely inside the Garden this year.
The 41st annual event is scheduled Sunday, June 11, with the 7 a.m. start on Gateway Road, just west of 30th Street and the finish in the Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site.
At the finish, starting at 8 a.m. will be a new post-race “Run Fest,” including “live music, food, beer and activities for adults and kids,” a press release states. Admission is free.
The ranch is across the street from the Garden of the Gods Visitor & Nature Center, which for years has dedicated earnings from its gift shop to the upkeep of the Garden. The center is owned by the Garden of the Gods Foundation, which is partnering with race organizers this year.
“The Run Fest will bring running organizations and the outdoor community together in an effort to increase recognition and support for the Garden of the Gods

Foundation,” a press release states.
The effect will be “financial assistance to the Garden of the Gods Park,” added Ron Ilgen, President of Pikes Peak Marathon, Inc.
The GoG event, the Summer Roundup Trail Run (July 9) and Pikes Peak Ascent and Marathon (Aug. 19-20) comprise what's known as the Triple Crown of Running series.
“We're very excited that this long-time event is stepping in to give something back to the park we love,” said Jan Martin, a foundation trustee. “It'll help bring awareness to the [foundation's] years of service devoted to the park.”
The GoG 10-kilometer and the longer 10-mile races have traditionally started and finished near the City Hall in Manitou Springs, using El Paso Boulevard to get to and from the Garden, where most of the running occurred.
The new layout will “showcase the best of the Garden of the Gods, including historic Rock Ledge Ranch,” the release continues. “The courses are contained within park boundaries, and the finish in Rock Ledge Ranch will provide the perfect ending as participants pass farm animals and barns before landing at the Run Fest. The final half-mile of the races will be run on gravel roads and a short trail section.”
The cost for runners is $50 (10K) or $60 (10M) until race day, when another $10 is added. For online race registration and more information visit gardentenmile.com.
