Painting with french fries
Old Colorado City artist Jason Baalman featured on Letterman, CNN

Jason Baalman, owner of the Eclectic Asylum art and clothing store in Old Colorado City, will be on the Dave Letterman television show on CBS Friday night, May 25. According to Mazie Baalman, his mother and co-owner of Old Town's Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, “he will be drawing a portrait of Bif the stage manager using ketchup and french fries.”
She added that “Jason will also be featured on CNN on Saturday, May 26 at 12:30 and 3:30 for the Mona Lisa drawing he did using MS Paint.”
Baalman's art work can be seen on the Internet by going to YouTube, then searching for “Eclectic Asylum Art.”
According to an Old Colorado City Associates (OCCA) merchants group press release, Baalman has filmed himself doing so - another video shows him using chocolate syrup and a spoon - posted the videos on the YouTube website, and got noticed.
Baalman is known in Old Colorado City for his murals on the side of the Chocolate Factory building (the most recent being Willy Wonka) and in 2005 for winning the Art on the Avenue competition in which artists chalk-painted on the pavement of the Old Town Plaza during the merchants' annual Scarecrow Days.
