Meeting to mull service cuts
Potential service cutbacks by the Colorado Springs Police and Fire departments will be discussed in what's described as a “city service reduction presentation”
Tuesday, May 25.
The public meeting, the last of four such sessions scheduled by the city this spring in cooperation with the Council of Neighbors and Organiza-tions (CONO), will start at 7 p.m. at the Westside Community Center, 1628 West Bijou St.
According to a press release, the meeting is intended “to gather input from the community about the service delivery model they expect or want from the CSPD and CSFD, to discuss with the community the service delivery options the CSPD and CSFD are considering in 2011 and [to let] CONO address the group about how neighborhoods can best work with the CSPD and CSFD to provide a safer city.”
Also participating will be the Organization of Westside Neighbors (OWN), the city-recognized advocacy group for the older Westside.
The meeting follows the Fire Department's March presentation to OWN that introduced the possibility of layoffs and citywide service cutbacks, based on 2011 budget projections.
