Meet a Westsider:
Eugene Red Hawk Orner
Profession/Occupation... U.S. Army, retired.
What I like most about the Westside is... the pace of living is slower. It’s close to the mountains. The houses are built of real wood, and have character, not cookie cutter, ticky tack.
If I could change anything about the Westside, it would be... convince the city fathers to reroute traffic from 21st to 31st streets. Turn the street (Colorado Avenue) into a big pedestrian, bicycle mall, with more shops and restaurants. (Horse too.)
A good movie I’ve seen recently is... “Second Hand Lions,” starring Michael Caine, Robert Duval and Haley Joel Osmet. Funny and heart- warming.
The worst advice I’ve ever gotten was... Buy this house, you can fix it up cheap!
If I could meet someone famous, I’d like to meet... Condoleezza Rice, national security adviser.
The next time I travel, I’m going to... Pennsylvania for a high school class reunion.
My favorite childhood memory is... Going hunting and fishing with my father.
My favorite summer pastime is... Getting out into the mountains. Also going Powwowing.
Something good I’ve read is.. “Crazy Horse and Custer, A Parallel History,” by Stephen E. Ambrose.
My pet peeve is... Someone telling me I don’t look like an Indian. What is an Indian supposed to look like? I’m not a Hollywood Indian.
If I won the lottery, I’d... try to keep it a secret! I don’t need all those “instant relatives” or investment schemes!
