Letter: Appreciated article on Midland School's ST Math success

Thank you for taking the time to highlight the accomplishment achieved by the students at Midland International Elementary School in Colorado Springs School District 11 [“Midland Elementary rules the nation in work-completion percentage for ST Math,” posted May 21 in the Westside Pioneer online].
This being my 37th year in the district, I can tell you that the accomplishments of schools that aren't often in the spotlight are inspirational and imperative for our community to recognize. The students, staff, families and community support this little nugget on the Colorado Springs Westside.
Midland International is but one of our Title I schools that are working with students to empower them to make choices that will gain them success as adults. Quite often it's the quiet voices that are doing the right thing for our students each and every day that are not recognized. I challenge all those involved in publications throughout Colorado Springs to know the diverse populations that embody a Title I school. You will be amazed at what you find inside those hallowed halls.
