33 D-11 summer classes offered at West Center

Thirty-three District 11 Community Education classes bolster various West Intergenerational Center offerings in the center's just-released Summer 2007 brochure.
If not received in the mail, the 16-page document is available at West Center, 25 N. 20th St., which is also where most of the summer classes will be held.
In keeping with the intergenerational name, the brochure lists classes, activities, programs and trips for a spectrum of age levels.
Classes start as early as May 29, and as late as Aug. 1. Fees vary, sometimes based on class sizes and number of students, according to Brigitte Laviolette of D-11 Community Education,
“Have you always wanted to learn how to tango, rumba, or cha cha - or even belly dance?” Laviolette asks in a press release. “Would a computer class be more to your liking? Do your travels or work require Spanish skills? Are you interested in decorating and quilt making? Community Education also offers classes in medieval English swordplay, Pilates-yoga fusion, mah jongg, managing rental property and basic culinary knife skills.
“Let's not forget your children! Enroll them in a class of tennis, where the emphasis will be on physical exercise. Let them explore the world of dinosaurs, which includes hands-on activities such as plaster footprints, digging for bones and sponge paintings. What fun they'll have solving mysteries in “detectives and spies.” They could even be inspired to become polyglots, once they've gotten a taste of Spanish.”
