Meet a Westsider:
I am retired from Shepard’s McGraw-Hill. I was a managing editor there for 27 years.
What I like most about the Westside is... the residents are friendly and cooperative.
If I could change anything about the Westside, it would be... to slow down the speeders on 31st Street.
A good movie I’ve seen recently is... “The King’s Speech.” I remember hearing the speech on the radio the day World War II broke out in Europe. I was at a Boy Scout camp-out.
The worst advice I’ve ever gotten was... Go into private law practice in a small, western South Dakota town.
If I could meet someone famous, I’d like to meet... President John F. Kennedy because I thought he was a superb hero, legislator and president.
The next time I travel, I’m going... I would like to RV in Australia and New Zealand.
My favorite childhood memory is... going to the 5-cent Western movies and eating 5-cent-a-bag popcorn on Saturday afternoons.
My favorite spring pastime is... camping and fishing, either at my cabin or in the RV.
Something good I’ve read is... After reading law cases for 27 years, any spy novel or mystery is relaxing and refreshing. I also liked “Truman” (the biography of Harry S Truman).
My pet peeve is... drivers who think the 31st Street entryway garden and/or Camp Creek is their personal ashtray.
If I won the lottery I’d... establish scholarships for my grandchildren and great-grandchildren, plus travel with my wife.
