Meet a Westsider:
Vice President of Tim's Mannagift, Inc (local towing company and authorized U-Haul dealer on the Westside.)
What I like most about the Westside is... the small-town feel. The community is united and focused on preserving history. I like the fact that this side of town primarily consists of small family-owned businesses and is an area of town that blossoms with the “American Dream”!
If I could change anything about the Westside, it would be... the Waldo Canyon Fire. The wake of destruction will be seen and felt for quite some time. It is such a shame for so many to have lost so much – from the families that lost their homes, heirlooms, pictures and memories to losing part of our Westside history with the Flying W Ranch.
A good movie I’ve seen recently is... “Soul Surfer,” the inspiring true story of teen surfer Bethany Hamilton, who lost her arm in a shark attack and courageously overcame all odds to become a champion again, through her sheer determination and unwavering faith.
I'd like to discover... a cure for cancer. Almost all of us know or have lost someone who has battled or been touched by this ruthless disease.
If I could meet someone famous, I’d like to meet... Robin Roberts from “Good Morning America.” She has battled and beaten two serious illnesses: breast cancer and Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS). She went through these illnesses and treatments very publicly and used her journey to inspire others.
The next time I travel, I’m going... someplace tropical to enjoy the ocean again. I have not decided where that is yet; there are just too many choices!
My favorite childhood memory is... During the summer every year, my parents would take my siblings and I to the Westside to rediscover the BEST of Colorado! We would go to each of the following: Pikes Peak, Cave of the Winds, Manitou Incline, Garden of the Gods, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Will Rogers Shrine, Seven Falls, Glen Eyrie Castle and the Flying W Ranch!
My favorite spring pastime is... setting out the wild-bird feeders; it is a joy to see how many different birds will make our yard their home! Doves, hummingbirds, robins, blue jays and even owls.
Something good I’ve read is... My Bible. It is inspiring, soothing and good for the soul! It gives me direction, morals, values and even tells me how to handle life’s most negative times.
My pet peeve is... I really am disgusted with the lasting effects of alcohol and drugs. They can easily be abused and destroy lives. It reaches far past the abuser; it touches every part of a person’s life and everyone that the abuser is connected to.
If I didn’t have to work for a year, I would... love to volunteer and educate. There are so many opportunities right here in our own town.
