Meet a Westsider:
I own a little "curiosity shop" called The Attic and a tour company called Old Town Tours, and I do web development in my spare time.
What I like most about the Westside is... that everything I need is right here. Old Town has a spectacular view, the best shopping area on the Front Range and of course all the interesting people. Life is amusing everyday on the Westside.
If I could change anything about the Westside, it would be... Let's see, first I would build a giant wall around the entire area and charge admission. Visitors already want to experience the many things we have to offer within Historic Old Colorado City. So, why not give them, and us, more year-round fun. Maybe something like mock gun fights from the rooftops. Saloon girls darting in and out of storefronts. Beautiful woman in French gowns strolling the avenue with brightly colored parasols. Oh, and let's add in a few Indians, Mimi Rogers dealing cards at a saloon, a handful of gold miners and, dare I say it, Miss Laura Belle herself waving from a balcony. Now wouldn't that just be a hoot? I bet our visitors would think so too.
A good movie I’ve seen recently is... I would have to say “The Stepford Wives.” Not so much for it being a great movie but because it reminds me just how scary “normal” can be.
The worst advice I’ve ever gotten was... “The squeaky wheel always gets the most grease.” I would love to take a poll and see just how many of the squeaky wheels actually never take it upon themselves to fix whatever they are squeaking about. If I want change, I should try and change it.
If I could meet someone famous, I’d like to meet... Edgar Cayce, I can only imagine what an incredible man he was alive.
The next time I travel, I’m going to... Back to Paris… by way of the Grand Canyon, Yosemite and of course New York City.
My favorite childhood memory is... Any time I was on a boat in the ocean or on a lake. One time in particular with my family and grandparents, it was just before dawn and we were speeding to this little island and as we approached, these huge fish were jumping out of the water, only to land, one after another in our boat. Wow, that was fun.
My favorite summer pastimes are... Alone, soaking up some sun, on an ocean beach, on a huge mountain rock, under a tree, near a river… enjoying the quiet.
Something good I’ve read is.. “The Celestine Prophecy,” a 1993 novel by James Redfield. WARNING, it may change your life forever!
My pet peeve is... Not many things get under my skin and I'm thankful for that. The one exception I guess would be people that are fake, narrow-minded with absolutely no vision, no desire and no plan. Individuals that would rather tear something down or someone apart then to build on the positives. Life is such a wonderful gift – why try and cause something or someone harm? It's a karma withdrawal fee I'm not willing to pay.
If I won the lottery, I’d... Build that wall, hire all those people and charge admission! I can't wait – now where do I go to pick up my winnings?
