Meet a Westsider:
Cassandra Eacker

Profession/Occupation... Branch clerk at Old Colorado City Library.

What I like most about the Westside is... The Westside has such a great sense of community. You know your neighbors, you say hello to the people that you pass on the sidewalk, and you see art and eccentricity everywhere. Itís great.

If I could change anything about the Westside, it would be... My only issue, with the entire city really, is there are not enough vegetarian-focused restaurants. It gets kind of boring going to the same three or four places.

A good movie Iíve seen recently is... My attention span is not good enough for movies. I prefer TV shows. However, I guess the last movie that I actually paid close enough attention to was ďTake This Waltz.Ē Itís such a sad story, but very beautifully made.

I'd like to discover... a way to start a garden/compost at my small apartment. Iíve been doing some research (gotta love the library), but I might live in one of the smallest apartments in the city. Ha.

If I could meet someone famous, Iíd like to meet... Iíd LOVE to meet Woody Allen. Heís my favorite all-time filmmaker, author and comedian. We share many of the same nervous twitches.

The next time I travel, Iím going... I hope to be able to visit Seattle again soon, and get more time to really explore every corner. Ireland would be pretty amazing as well.

My favorite childhood memory is... My extended family would take trips out to Lake Powell on a houseboat for a couple weeks every summer. I got to swim and play with my brother and cousins and dogs, and we would sleep on top of the boat and look at the beautiful, clear sky.

My favorite spring pastime is... I love the short springs we get here in Colorado. Riding my bike is definitely the biggest reason; also hiking, and during the cool evenings I try to train my cat to go on walks with me.

Something good Iíve read is... Iíve recently finished two Chuck Palahniuk books, ďSurvivorĒ and ďRant.Ē Both are absolutely incredible and mind-blowing. If you donít mind a little chaos, I recommend reading at least one of his novels. Iím also working on ďCatís CradleĒ by Kurt Vonnegut right now. Heís always fun.

My pet peeve is... I cannot stand when drawers, cabinet doors, lids or anything meant to be closed are left open. That might be more of an OCD thing, though.

If I didnít have to work for a year, I would... probably not be able to stay away from the library, so I have feeling Iíd spent a bunch of time at one. Iíd also work on all kinds of art projects Iíve always wanted to do, learn how to knit, do some travelling and play a lot of shows Ė maybe even go on tour with my band, Askackaboh. A year might not be enough time, haha.
