Westside CARES offers free shots, holds food drive
Westside CARES, a coalition of 21 western El Paso County churches that assists needy families, has organized events on each of the next two weekends.
The first of these will be free immunizations to children Saturday, May 3 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at the West Center, 25 N. 20th St. Westside CARES, in partnership with Penrose/St. Francis Health Systems, will provide the vaccines to ages 4 to 18 who are enrolled in Medicaid, do not have health insurance, are American Indian/ Alaska Native, or are not enrolled in CHP+.
Appointments can be made by calling 2-1-1 (United Way help line). A health information fair will also be available.
On Friday and Saturday, May 9-10, Westside CARES will hold a food drive for its four church-based pantries. Volunteers will be outside several grocery stores, including the following Westside locations: the King Soopers at Uintah Gardens and Grandview Market Place shopping centers, the Albertsons at West Wind shopping center and the South Eighth Street Wal-Mart.
