City, county, RTA updates slated for OWN night
Local government updates will highlight the Organization of Westside Neighbors (OWN) membership meeting Thursday, May 8.
Starting at 7 p.m., the meeting's venue has been changed to the Gold Hill Police Substation, 955 W. Moreno Ave. OWN had previously planned it at the West Center (where it usually holds its meetings) but OWN President Welling Clark said the change was necessary to handle the evening's presentations.
The event is free, and the public is invited.
Speakers will include County Commissioner Sallie Clark and City Council member Jerry Heimlicher, discussing their own jurisdictions and joint efforts with the Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority (RTA). Also on hand will be Kristen Flannery of Colorado Springs Utilities, to talk about the Fountain Creek “visioning process” (a plan to improve the quality of the watershed between Monument/Fountain creeks and Pueblo).
Clark said another possible speaker (unconfirmed at press time) is Don Sides of the Community Develop-ment Block Grant (CDBG) capital improvement program, which includes the older Westside.
OWN is the city-recognized advocacy group for that area.
