Meet a Westsider:
Profession/Occupation... Administrative Assistant at Whittier Elementary School.
What I like most about the Westside is... the people on the Westside are like a big family in a small town. The traffic on the other side of town makes me crazy. I’m a third-generation Westsider. My mom still lives on 19th Street.
If I could change anything about the Westside, it would be... to have people take more pride and clean up the trash, especially along the roadways and under the bridges.
A good movie I’ve seen recently is... “Ice Age II,” with my family.
The worst advice I’ve ever gotten was... “You don’t need to go to college.” I was working full time at an insurance company in the claims department and everyone told me to keep my job. Now I wish I had gone to college.
If I could meet someone famous, I’d like to meet... Howie Mandel – he is extremely intelligent and witty. I wouldn’t mind answering his famous question either: “Deal or No Deal?”
The next time I travel, I’m going to... San Diego, California, Disneyland – of course we will stop in Las Vegas along the way.
My favorite childhood memory is... Every year we would go to Nebraska. We would fish for big catfish from the boat at night and then just play in the lake during the day.
My favorite summer pastime is... camping and hiking in the mountains.
Something good I’ve read is.. I like to keep up with the news in our local papers. My pet peeve is... people who do not give 100 percent effort to their jobs – the “slackers.”
If I won the lottery, I’d... help the needy children on the Westside get permanent homes (I do volunteer work with Care & Share. I help identify families with needs and send home “Care Backpacks”). I would give $1,000 tips to random helpful people and set up my family and friends with whatever they need.
Meet a Westsider” is a regular feature in the Westside Pioneer. If you would like to be a Meet-a-Westsider (or know someone who should be), please give us a call at 471-6776.
