St. Vrain meeting date being set this week

A neighborhood meeting date on the St. Vrain/18th Street access issue had not been confirmed at press deadline
However, Colorado Springs Traffic Engineer-ing has been trying to contact residents to pin down a date when most people could be available, according to city spokesperson Mary Scott.
“The meeting time and date is expected to be later next week or early the following week,” she said.
Responding to a citizen complaint, the city barricaded the narrow, long-time access for safety reasons about a month ago. Some residents have since complained about the closure, as well as the lack of public notice, and council member Jerry Heimlicher called for a neighborhood meeting.
Meanwhile, city staffers have stated - as recently as the April 23 City Council meeting - that the access should not be reopened at this time because of potential city liability, Heimlicher said.
