Library hours to increase

Beginning Monday, May 5, the Old Colorado City Branch, 2418 W. Pikes Peak Ave., will be open longer Monday through Thursday evenings.
The new hours will be 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The hours on Friday and Saturday will continue to be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The library will remain closed on Sundays.
“The new extended hours will help the branch increase access and services - one of the goals of the recent restoration and modernization of the library,” explains a press release from the Pikes Peak Library District. Added Old Colorado City Branch Manager Julianne Rist, “We knew the community we serve could use more hours, so we asked for an increase in staff, and the district board funded it.”
The new staff members are being trained and will be on board by May 5, she said.
