Biz Buzz:
Chance to ‘join the art community’

The Funky Caravan is a new addition to the shops/galleries in this year's Old Colorado City ArtWalk.

During the season-opening Old Colorado City ArtWalk April 5, Stephanie Ezzat adjusts a painting on the wall inside her Funky Caravan store. The ArtWalk, scheduled on the first Friday of the month from April to December, has 13 participating businesses this year, with the next event May 3.

Owner Stephanie Ezzat saw it as an opportunity to “join the art community,” she said at the first ArtWalk of the season April 5. The monthly event is a good way to let the public see the efforts of the community's artists, she believes.
The Funky Caravan opened last year at 2606 W. Colorado Ave. and includes two walls of paintings. Overall, “we try to focus on functional and aesthetic art,” Ezzat said.

       Store returns to OCC
Elly Blue, which had opened in Old Colorado City in 2004 then closed in 2010, has reopened at 2605 W. Colorado Ave.
A “grand reopening” will be Saturday, April 27 from 5 to 7 p.m.
Open daily, the retail shop sells women's clothing, jewelry, gifts and home décor items.
Elly Blue's location is again in the Argyle Building, one door away from its former location. Unchanged is the phone number: 520-0556. The website (still under construction) will be ellybluecos.com.
“I love the Westside and Old Colorado City,” said owner Patricia Stock. “It's historical and funky, with great people.”
