Weather slows 14-15th sewer-line completion

A recent spate of wet weather has slowed the wrap-up of the sewer-line upgrade project at 14th and 15th streets, according to Utilities spokesperson Rachel Beck.
The larger main has been installed, as planned, and the service lines successfully connected to it, but both streets have remained closed off awaiting the final paving work.
She said the expectation now is that paving should be completed this week or early the week of April 18.
The streets have been shut off between Pikes Peak Avenue and Kiowa Street for close to a month. The upgrade involved replacing aged 858 feet of 8-inch clay lines with 12-inch polyethylene.
The lines had reached 80 percent capacity, prompting the work, according to Utilities.
