Library fetes Mozart’s 250th
A quartet from the Colorado Springs Youth Symphony and an impromptu handbell choir will liven the Old Colorado City Branch Library's party in commemoration
of composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's 250th birthday Tuesday, April 11.
The free event, beginning at 6:30 p.m., is part of the branch's ongoing Family Night at the Library series. Also planned are read-aloud stories - picture books about Mozart - a birthday cake and a craft event that will let children create case covers for their favorite CDs. The activities will be coordinated by Mary Beth Cook, the Old Colorado City Branch Library children's specialist.
For the handbell effort, “everyone will have a chance to be part of a handbell choir playing our favorite Mozart piece - 'Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star,'“ Cook said.
The quartet will consist of two violins, viola and cello. “They will play some and talk about their instruments,” she said.
