Martin, Goodwill employee, named the agency’s Achiever of the Year
Danny Martin, a Goodwill Industries employee, will receive the award of 2005 Achiever of the Year at Goodwill's Annual Dinner Tuesday, April 18 at The
Broadmoor Hotel's International Center.
Martin's work involves helping collate mailings for local companies at the Goodwill facility in the 2300 block of Colorado Avenue. He has worked at Goodwill since August 2003.
“Danny is very ecstatic to be named 2005 Achiever of the Year,” said Goodwill spokesperson Laura Marth. “He is really looking forward to the Annual Dinner.”
Marth wrote the following about Martin in a press release:
“Next time you're visiting Old Colorado City, keep an eye out for a bubbly, blonde-haired bicyclist swiftly maneuvering around pedestrians on his way to or from work, the grocery store or a friend's home. It's Danny Martin, the selfless, eco-sensitive program participant whose smile exudes a ray of sunshine as he bounds into Goodwill early each morning, ready to help staff prepare for the day.
“Danny's philanthropic spirit constantly exceeds his supervisor's expectations and extends to his co-workers. 'He has a huge heart,' comments Danny's instructor. 'He puts his peers before himself when they need him.'
“This energetic bachelor enjoys his independent lifestyle which includes living in his own tranquil creek-side cabin, participating in a bowling league and traveling around the city on his cherished bike or navigating the bus system. Unknowingly, Danny's insatiable spirit influences those around him as they move toward independence.”
Also receiving awards at the dinner will be Goodwill program participants Kendall Cromar (Community Employee of the Year), Helen Bailey-Torres (2005 Independence Award) and Harold Edwards (2005 Helms Legacy Award).
