Original ‘98 Egg Hunt remembered

Bernideen Canfield responded to the article in the March 29 Westside Pioneer about the cancellation of this year's Old Colorado City Associates (OCCA) Easter Egg hunt by recalling the group's first hunt in 1998.
“Kathleen Reuben, who owned Kris Kringle located where the Urban Cowgirl just opened, was the president of the OCCA in
l998. (Reg Simpich had been the president before her),” said Canfield, whose Bernideen's shop has been in Old Colorado City for nearly 20 years. “I was the vice president and also in charge of getting candy that year. By the way, it snowed and we had to move this event upstairs to Thunder & Buttons. Lori Kasten organized the last-minute move with the help of Michelle Bracewell, who was on the board.”
Canfield also corrected a statement in the story, that Nancy Stovall was then the “leader” of the OCCA, noting that Stovall did not become the OCCA president until about five years later.
