Hwy 24 plans expected to go before public in July
The Colorado Depart-ment of Transportation (CDOT) plans to hold its next public meeting on the Westside Highway 24 expansion this summer.
No exact date has been announced, but it will probably be in July, according to Cheryl Everitt of the CDOT planning team.
Leading up to the public meeting will be draft-plan presentations to local elected bodies - the City Councils for Colorado Springs and Manitou Springs, the El Paso County Board of County Commissioners and the Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments (PPACG), starting this month or in May, Everitt said.
In a process that started in fall 2004, the last public meeting for the proposed project between I-25 and Manitou was in August 2006. Those options were based on traffic forecasts for the year 2030. The new options are based on the year 2035.
The goal is to finalize an Environmental Assessment that will make the project eligible for federal funding.
