Meet a Westsider:
I'm a retired surgical nurse. I volunteer at the Old Colorado City Historical Society and Silver Key. I also spend lots of time at Goodwill.
What I like most about the Westside is... being a part of history. My grandfather worked for the Midland railroad and lived on West Pikes Peak Avenue and I also live on West Pikes Peak.
If I could change anything about the Westside, it would be... to have a recycling center so more can help with the environment.
A good movie I’ve seen recently is... "Julie and Julia.” Now all I can think of is chocolate cake.
I'd like to discover... a cure for greed and avarice.
If I could meet someone famous, I’d like to meet... Jesus Christ, and ask Him what He thinks of today’s culture.
The next time I travel, I’m going to... Australia. Read Bill Bryson’s account and be amazed.
My favorite childhood memory is... going to Manitou, getting soda water and Patsy’s popcorn.
My favorite spring pastime is... hunting for treasures. I hike a lot, especially on Pikes Peak and find lots of interesting objects. In the summer, I hunt for mushrooms with the Pikes Peak Mycological Society. It’s like an Easter egg hunt from April to October.
Something good I’ve read is... anything by Bill Bryson, especially his “Short History on Nearly Everything.”
My pet peeve is... people who park incorrectly!
If I didn't have to work for a year I would... I don’t work and it is wonderful to be free of management.
Meet a Westsider” is a regular feature in the Westside Pioneer. If you would like to be a Meet-a-Westsider (or know someone who should be), please give us a call at 471-6776.
