History Center to host Design Guidelines presentation

Steve Obering, of YOW Architects and principal author of the recently published “Historic Westside Design Guidelines,” will give a presentation about the book and what it means to Westside homeowners Saturday, April 3 at the Old Colorado City History Center.
The talk, free and open to the public, will begin at 11 a.m. The center is at 1 S. 24th St.
The information in the Guidelines “would be helpful to any Westside homeowners considering remodeling their homes while desiring to keep them as historically authentic as possible,” said Dave Hughes, a member of the Old Colorado City Historical Society and a participant in the book's development.
The Guidelines provide illustrated information, including “dos and don'ts,” to help people accomplish authentic remodels of buildings dating back to 1958 and older.
Printed copies of the 127-page Guidelines are available at the center.
The book is also available now online, at the City of Colorado Springs website. Computer users can go directly to the site: www.springsgov.com/Page.aspx?NavID= 923.
In the city website hierarchy, go to www.springsgov.com, use the City Agencies pulldown to select Economic Development, then click Historic Preservation and Available Documents.
