The schedule of spring workdays in the Garden of the Gods has been announced by the Rocky Mountain Field Institute (RMFI).
The nonprofit organization has been coordinating with Colorado Springs Parks since 2002 to improve designated trails and restore areas that have eroded. This year's focus will be in the North Gateway area, “close to the 'gateway' and main parking area,” a press release states.
For most of the workdays, volunteers are still needed. The first of these is Sunday, April 6. Other workdays are scheduled on weekends through June 14.
The minimum age is 16, or 13 if accompanied by a parent volunteer.
Special “youth days” are also part of the schedule. Two of those days that still have openings are April 19 and May 17. Youth days are geared for middle and high school students. Younger ages are permitted with a parent.
For more information, call RMFI at 471-7736 or email rmfi@rmfi.org.
