200 turn out for Coronado’s Senior Citizen Dance Feb. 27
The second annual Senior Citizen Dance was a major success at Coronado High School Feb. 27, according to Principal Susan
Humphrey and Student Body President Grant Goerzen. |
An estimated 200 people - a goodly increase over 2003's inaugural event - came to the free event to enjoy ballroom dancing to a 17-piece orchestra.
Goerzen and the 45-member Coronado Student Council organized the event - paying for the orchestra and other expenses from fund-raising efforts earlier in the school year - as an effort to reach out to senior citizens in the community.
The students had received some volunteer ballroom dancing instruction earlier in the week from Broadmoor dance instructor Vic Fast and two members of the Broadmoor Waltz Club.
