Meet a Westsider:
I’m retired from the Navy; now I’m the Force Management Analyst for the 10th Special Forces Group at Fort Carson.
What I like most about the Westside is... the historic nature and the old houses and buildings. I don’t like urban sprawl and the modern architectural styles with the garages in the front.
If I could change anything about the Westside, it would be... to replace all the modern buildings with the old style.
A good movie I’ve seen recently is... “The DaVinci Code” is the last one I saw. I thought it was intriguing and entertaining. It was good that I read articles about the “Knights Templar” and “Opus Dei.” They gave me a clue of what was going on and helped me follow the plot.
The worst advice I’ve ever gotten was... I can’t recall but some good advice my dad gave me was, “Never buy a new model car until it’s been on the market a few years and has had a chance to get the bugs out.” At the time, I wanted a Ford Pinto.
If I could meet someone famous, I’d like to meet... Tom Selleck – I’ve watched him since “Magnum P.I.” I think he’s a nice guy and not hard to look at either.
The next time I travel, I’m going to... It would be back to Texas for a family reunion... although I’d rather it be a tropical beach.
My favorite childhood memory is... going country/western dancing with cousins and friends in Texas at country dance halls.
My favorite winter pastime is... I love to watch it snow if I’m inside where it’s warm.
Something good I’ve read is.. I read magazines and newspapers. Magazines like Old Home Journal, Old House Interiors, This Old House, American Bungalow, Style 1900. See a pattern here?
My pet peeve is... front-loading garages.
If I won the lottery, I’d... invest in my retirement fund, donate some to charity and take my boys to some historic overseas site like the Pyramids or the Coliseum.
