Westsiders will have two local opportunities to listen and talk to Colorado Springs mayor and City Council candidates.
The first of these will be Monday, Feb. 26, at 11:30 a.m. at the Village at Skyline's Community Room, 2365 Patriot Hts., sponsored by the Cheyenne Mountain Republicans. The next will be Thursday, March 8, at 7 p.m. at the West Intergenerational Center, 25 N. 20th St., sponsored by the Organization of Westside Neighbors. The April 3 election is for Colorado Springs mayor and four at-large council seats. All the incumbents are running for re-election, including Westside residents Randy Purvis and Tom Gallagher (both at-large council members). Another Westsider, Jan Martin, is an at-large candidate. Also coming up will be a forum by the Council of Neighbors and Organizations (CONO) from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 1 at the City Administration Building, 30 S. Nevada Ave., moderated by Planning Commissioner Bob Wignall; and a forum on growth issues, March 14 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Rockrimmon Branch Library, 832 Village Center Dr., sponsored by SaveTheSprings, Sierra Club and Citizen-Powered Media.
