Juried event seeks Rock Ledge, GoG paintings

The Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site is accepting entry applications for a juried art exhibition that will be put on display at the ranch Aug. 10-12.
The subject matter will be Rock Ledge or the Garden of the Gods. The art will be for sale, with a portion of the sales going back to the Ranch, according to ranch manager Andy Morris.
Noted regional plein-air (outside painting) artist Kathryn McMahon is overseeing the application process. Accord-ing to McMahon, the entry deadline is April 1. Artists are asked to send in photos of past work. There is no entry fee.
The idea for the show came from Rock Ledge staff as “a way to showcase the ranch to another audience,” according to ranch manager Andy Morris. “Hardly a day goes by when there isn't an artist either painting the ranch or taking a picture of it, so Kathy will have plenty of talented artists to choose from.”
Once artists are juried in, they can begin on the painting for the exhibition, McMahon explained.
The judging will decide awards for first, second and third, without distinction to media used. “It's the first time,” McMahon explained. “We're trying to make it easy.”
