CHS plans fifth annual Senior Citizens Ball

Coronado High's Student Council will sponsor the school's fifth annual Senior Citizens Ball Friday, Feb. 23.
The event, to which all senior citizens are invited at no charge, will be from 6 to 8 p.m. in the school's auxiliary gym. The 17-piece New Century Big Band will perform.
Participants will be provided complimentary limo service from the CHS parking lot to the gym doors, and an array of food, punch and coffee.
According to Jill Haffley, faculty advisor to the council, “Word is getting out to seniors several ways: We are faxing flyers to area retirement and assisted living communities and hand-delivering flyers to those in our immediate area.” In addition, she said the school is partnering with MacKenzie Place, a local senior living company, to get invitations out to about 500 more people.
Student Council members, who will be expected to dance too, will be getting a quick course in ballroom dancing next week from Broadmoor dance instructor Vic Fast, Haffley said.
