Reps from 2 Westside entities sought for fire task force
A representative from the Organization of Westside Neighbors and Goodwill Industries will be sought to join the new
Service Improvement Task Force being formed by the Colorado Springs Fire Department. |
The task force, which would start meeting this month and report back to City Council April 26, will be asked to “look at different ideas” in connection with the department's proposal to relocate three fire stations, including the Westside's Station 3, according to Battalion Chief Clark Stidham.
A preliminary list given to City Council Feb. 10 suggested a smaller committee with representatives from neighborhoods, businesses and other groups. Stidham said he is talking with Jan Doran of the Council of Neighborhood Organizations (CONO) about an expanded list - not to exceed 25 - so as to get a better “cross-representation” of the community.
Under the Fire Department proposal in January, Station 3, at 922 W. Colorado Ave., would move to a nearby, larger site and take on the added responsibility of prime responder to the downtown.
