Follow-ups: Jolly Trolleys
An article in the Aug. 19 Westside Pioneer noted that the two Jolly Trolley buses, which carried thousands of riders between the
Westside and Manitou Springs in the 1980s and '90s, had been relegated to uncovered outdoor storage in the Manitou Springs
Public Works yard, where they were being parted out for other vehicles and showing signs of weathering. Manitou Mayor
Marcy Morrison said recently the city was unable to find funds in its 2005 budget to restore the hand-customized, open-air
machines. They remain uncovered this winter, as shown in a photo taken this week. The interior of the bus on the left is evidently
being used as an ad hoc shed.
